Amina Pankey is the former lead singer of the group Black Buddafly who released her first independent EP, I AM Part 1, in February of 2013. Her second EP, I AM Part 2, is a collection of songs she wrote while starring in VH1's reality series Love & Hip Hop: New York.

She started songwriting when she was 13 and signed her first record deal in 1997 with her two sisters. They released a single under the name Choyce.

She moved to New York from Germany with no plan and only the determination to make it big in the music industry.

Her mother introduced her to artists such as Marvin Gaye, The Jackson 5, and Earth, Wind & Fire.
